Farnworth Shaw divorce solicitors offer a fixed fee to cover all necessary steps from the initial meeting through to Decree Absolute.
Assuming there are no unforeseen problems, our fixed fees are as follows:-
If you are the Petitioner (the person applying for the divorce)
Our Costs £500.00
VAT @ 20% £100.00
Court Fees £550.00
TOTAL COSTS £1,150.00
If you are the Respondent (a person receiving the divorce papers)
Our Costs £500.00
VAT @ 20% £100.00
TOTAL COSTS £600.00
What does the fixed fee include?
- Advice about the proceedings from our specialist Family Law team.
- Preparing the Court documents ie. the Divorce Petition, Statement of Arrangements for the Children, Certificate of Reconciliation, a Statement in support of the Petition together with the Applications for Decree Nisi and Decree Absolute.
- Correspondence with your spouse or his/her Solicitors
BUT the fixed fee will not include:
- Additional work if the Petition becomes defended or needs to be amended once it has been issued by the Court.
- The cost of obtaining a Marriage Certificate if you do not have the original or the cost of translation if it is not in English.
- Arranging for the divorce papers to be served personally.
- Unforeseen complexities arising from the case which require additional work or advice.
- Any advice regarding children or finances.
- Any application for fee exemption.
PAYMENT
If you are the Petitioner, Farnworth Shaw divorce solicitors will ask you for:
- Payment in advance of all Court Fees incurred.
- £300.00 towards our costs before we commence proceedings.
- £300.00 towards our costs upon the application for Decree Nisi.
If you are the Respondent:
- £150.00 at the outset.
- The balance of £90.00 upon pronouncement of the Decree Nisi.
- Other fixed fee packages are available upon request.
